Our founder
With over 25 years of experience as a software engineer, Rakesh Verma has firsthand knowledge of just how powerful computer science is and how much potential it has for effecting real, good change in our world. It is this understanding that drives his desire to introduce young students to the field he loves so much and help them along their journeys. Well, that and the great joy he gets when seeing students' faces light up every time they successfully solve what originally seemed an impenetrable problem.
The beginnings
The very first group of students taught at Code2Learn consisted of Rakesh's daughter, then in middle school, and three of her friends (pictured to the right). Though none of them had previously written a single line of code, after eight weeks of classes in Rakesh's garage, they emerged with a newfound passion for the field-- and Rakesh with a newfound passion for sharing his knowledge with eager young individuals. Today, all four of these original students are majoring in Computer Science at their respective colleges, and Code2Learn too has grown faster than we ever imagined.
Growth & beyond
Since then, Code2Learn has helped over 75 students in the Greater San Diego Area along their journies into the field of computer science. Expanding our course offerings to include different levels and languages, we've helped middle and high school students alike according to their specific needs/desires. Not only that, but after branching into AP Computer Science Preparation four years ago, we've seen each one of our students score above a 4 on the AP exam, with the large majority (85%+) earning 5's. We are excited to continue to expand and bring quality computer science education to more and more students around the world.
